Hell has frozen over

Ah, the wonders of the internet.  I did not have to leave the relative comfort of my home in Silver Spring to do some research on hell. The temps outside soared to 14 degrees today. I worked. I drove over to Rockville and met with a fine young gentleman and his parents to discuss the home buying process.  After that meeting, another buyer asked that I meet with them in Frederick so I could show them a condo. I drive one of those fancy new Nissans that have a pretty darn good heater. I got on 270 and headed north.  The little dashboard thing said it was heating up outside as the temperature soared to 17 degrees.

The trip north took about 35 minutes. I must confess I made a rookie mistake. I was early. I found a parking spot and went down the block to meet the prospect. I waited. I began to try and determine if there was a big difference between 14 and 17 degrees. I quickly discovered that one thing does happen when the temperature plummets. Time slows down. I distinctly remember checking the clock on my phone and it was 1:57pm. I paced back and forth. I blew warm air on my hands. I looked up and down the street. I was sure 15 or 20 minutes had passed and the prospect was either late or not coming at all. I checked the clock on my phone again……..it was 1:59pm.

The prospect showed up at 2:00pm as scheduled. It turns out it was a very nice school teacher and her parents. I enjoy working with first time home buyers. I don’t mind sharing the process with mom and dad. I think it is nice when they are involved.

But I digress.

While driving home, I was listening to CNN ( sorry, I am a talk radio junkie). They were describing Obama’s trip from Philly to D.C.  It seems that thousands of people lined the track as his train passed. Baltimore had over 100,000 people pour into the area. I thought, wow, I was just out in that weather for about one half hour. I thought I would freeze to death. Not 40 miles away people were standing to hear this man speak.

In the quiet of my car, I remembered the people I have known in my past. I thought about the people that had little hope for America. I remembered hearing more than once……..”It will be a cold day in hell before this country elects a black man as president” or “Hell will freeze over before a black man takes the oath of office.”

EUREKA ! ! !

I went on line and used the Google. I found the above calender listing the daily temperatures in Hell. As anyone can see, pick a day, it is a cold day in Hell. I could not find a day when the temps reached freezing.  I then checked with the National Weather service and was told that Hell has had so many cold days, one could say “Hell has frozen over!”

So, when Barack Obama steps up and puts his hand on the bible Tuesday, he will just be fulfilling the prognostications of so many that dreamed. He will fulfill the awkward prophecy of people involved in the Civil Rights’s Movement. The signs have all pointed to this event.

I guess we really have to worry about global warming now.
